- the trick being to do it in such a way that top remains balanced but spinning on its tip....
A whole different kind of dexterity to that required for electronic games...
Spinning tops have been really popular in Japan for hundreds of years - a favourite game being spinning the tops
inside a ring, usually an upended bucket, and trying to knock their opponents' tops out of that ring.
This top is 7cm tall, steel tipped, crudely painted and with a good long string.
It is in its original packaging "WOOD TOP WITH CORD " " JAPAN"
I found a few boxes of these in an old warehouse I cleared.
