Unused 1930s Darning Egg with Hook AND Instructions ..Made in England
An unused 1930s "Wimberdar" Darner Egg/Stocking Ladder Darner, complete with Instructions A very well-designed darner - the groove in the egg allows extra room for working the repair stitches without relieving the tension in the fabric and the latch hook tool is neatly stored within the egg, protecting the fine hook when not in use.
The latch hook is identical to a rug making tool with a metal hook at the end and a latch which closes over any loop held by the hook to keep it in place while you're pulling it through to make the repair. (I'm told its easy with practice !) The varnished wooden egg is 7cm x 4cm and the mini latch hook is 9.5cm long. On the egg is printed LADDER DARNER
Wimberdar MADE IN ENGLAND.
Ideal for darning socks and jumpers ...as well as your stockings of course.
The original selling display box has a lovely picture of 2 elegant ladies in 1930s dresses and (well repaired) stockings on both the lid cover and inside.
