Bizarre doesn't even begin to describe these fantastic old paper masks.
The smaller masks are aprox 18 x 9 cm
The larger ones are aprox 18 x 20 cm
They originally had rubber bands at the side to put over the ears - but they disintegrated years ago. Some of the masks have remnants of the bands at the edges, all have little slits in the paper through which you could gently thread some ribbon - if you would like to wear them.
Or, you can of course, put them on a shelf and smile every time you walk past.
Most of them do not have eyes, some have one, some even have 2.
I found them right at the back of a high shelf in an old wholesalers warehouse I cleared.
One of the boxes had a label that was exactly the same as boxes of other things I found that had MADE IN JAPAN marked on them.
