Little straw balls covered in silver foil and held together with a mesh of coloured string - on elastic !
An old lady told me years ago that rag and bone men used to give them to children when the kids gave them bundles of stuff.
One of them has Merry Xmas stuck on the front..obviously the original shopkeeper trying to upsell them ...but they would look rather charming adorning a vintage Christmas Tree or hung high on your festive rafters.
