A box of 8 sheets of 24 wonderfully shimmery Mother of Pearl
buttons on their original cards. 144 all together.
They measure approximately 2cm in diameter -some a bit bigger, some a bit smaller
as they have been hand cut - wonderfully irregular shapes, heights and edges !

Some of the cards have paper backings - many are from old Indian business journals
and some are from 1930s and 40s newspapers.
I found a sealed (with sealing wax) sack of these in an old haberdashery warehouse I cleared (see 4th and last photo)
