A deep plummy red terracotta with marked swirls of darker and lighter colour - characteristic of vintage casein.
The buttons are moulded so that one side dips and then rises - the different depths and polished surfaces catching the light - you can see this in the photos. The other side is carved into a starburst - each vertical segment also having horizontal lines carved across it. A most satisfying design. They are 2.2cm in diameter and are from the 1930s .
