The buttons are moulded so that one side dips and then rises - the different depths catching the light - you can see this in the photo.
The other side is carved into a starburst - each vertical segment also having horizontal lines carved across it.
A most satisfying design.
They are either 1.7cm or 2.2cm in diameter and are from the 1930s .
