A rich chewy deep toffee caramel colour with lots of variations on the surface, characteristic of vintage casein buttons.
The buttons are moulded so that one side dips and then rises - the different depths and polished surface catching the light - you can see this in the photos.
The other side is carved into a starburst - each vertical segment also having horizontal lines carved across it.
A most satisfying design.
They are either 2.2cm or 1.6cm in diameter and are from the 1930s .
They came on cards that proclaimed NOVELTY SERIE.
