The Critchley family have been associated with pin manufacture in the Stroud valley since 1832, and the present firm of Critchley Bros. Ltd. was founded in 1883, when F. E. and U. G. Critchley purchased Wimberley Mills.
Pins weren't very profitable so after the First World War they diversified into
Knitting needles, hair grips, drawing pins, children's toys, electrical accessories and flexible plastic piping.
However, what we have here are probably 1930s, but maybe earlier,
unopened boxes of
BIJOU
Hardened and Tempered Steel Pins
Guaranteed full quarter pound of them !
The label on the outer carton is a wonderful disclaimer...
